Who we are

Wellington Women’s Refuge provides support to survivors of domestic violence, walking alongside and empowering them to make safe decisions for their future. It provides a safe-house and also supports women and their children in the community.

The Refuge operates a community office and a 24-hour crisis telephone line. Less than half of the annual operating costs come via government funding and it needs to raise the rest elsewhere.

The difference your gift could make:
$10 could cover a child's session on the Refuge’s 10 session programme for children who have experienced domestic violence;
$20 could provide a night for a woman in the Refuge’s safe-house;
$50 could provide groceries for a family struggling financially at a time of crisis;
$70 could cover a counselling session with its specialist domestic violence counsellor;
$100 could cover five nights in the safe-house.
