Kia Ora! I'm taking part in the 'Choose to move for Perinatal mental health' during the week of 1st May-7th May 2022. As a midwifery student and a mum of three young children, mental health and well-being means so much and I am delighted to take part in this wonderful cause! I will be hiking up Wairere Falls (most likely on 2nd May 2022) a beautiful 3-4 hour hikoi up 153metres. All proceeds will go to the PADA (Perinatal Anxiety and Depression Aotearoa) to enable them to support the wellbeing of whanau throughout New Zealand. In Aotearoa, 25% of women suffer from anxiety or depression during or after pregnancy and 10% of men experience depression after a child is born. PADA is a national organisation advocating for anyone experiencing mental illnesses as a result of pregnancy, childbirth or early parenthood. Thank you so much for your generosity! Arohanui.
