Jesse tramps NZ for Seed Waikato

Kia ora In December 2018 I kick off my walk of Aotearoa - 3,000km along the Te Araroa trail, from Cape Reinga to Bluff. Taking 4-5months, I'm walking along beach, road, trail and mountain to experience New Zealand's natural beauty while also challenging myself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I wanted to take the opportunity to fundraise for a charity that is important to me, Seed Waikato. My beautiful wife, alongside a group of ambitious millennials, decided to redefine what it means to be young, setting up Seed Waikato to connect and grow young people across the region. Since their launch in September 2017, they've provided connection and growth opportunity to inspire, challenge and encourage young people across the mighty Waikato. Why? Because Aotearoa faces a mental health crisis, and every 63 minutes, a young person takes their life. Millennials are the biggest generation on living record, and it's more important than ever to support and empower them. They've got ambitious plans in 2019 to expand, hooking young people up with epic education, inspiring events and workshops, cool blogs and opportunities for them to develop their potential with projects they care about. I've personally been inspired by the work they've done so far, learning so much about myself and my community through engaging with their events, in particular their submission to Hamilton City Council's 10-year plan, and to the Government Inquiry into Mental Health and Addiction. Start-up organisations are challenging at the best of times, and after seeing the incredible impact they've made in such a short time, I want to do my small bit to fundraise and empower them to make a real change in the lives of young people, and back them to create new initiatives. How can you help? You can make a donation, big or small, once or often, and empower Seed Waikato to grow their impact. Thank you so much for going on the journey with me, and for empowering the millennials of the Waikato to redefine what it means to be young.
